On-site Postal Center
The mailing center at Universal is a designated branch of the United States Postal Service. This allows for the presence of a full-time postal clerk at our facility. The dedicated phone line and on-site postal personnel provide Universal with the flexibility to call extra staff for large or quick-turnaround jobs, as needed. This value-added benefit ensures that your important mailing doesn’t have to wait. In addition, all the paperwork is processed automatically, right in our dedicated postal center.

Plant-Verified Drop Shipments
Much of what you mail makes a number of postal stops along the way in order to go through various processes, such as routing and sorting. Plant-verified drop shipments allow you to bypass some of those processes because your entire mailing is loaded onto one or more trucks to be transported directly to the appropriate postal centers. Not only does this allow you to reap the maximum postal discounts available, it also saves time, meaning your mailing reaches its audience much faster than if it has to go through the standard processes.

Planet Code Destination Confirm
Think you have to rely upon Federal Express or another overnight courier service in order to track the whereabouts of your mailing or package? Not if you mail with Universal. Universal Mailing Service is among the select group of only 75 U.S. mailing service companies certified by the U.S. Post Office to track outbound mail to its destination. No matter what the size of the mailing, with Universal, in addition to knowing where it’s going, you can also know when it gets there.

Alternate Mailing System Agreement
When you have a very large mailing to get out, postal regulations dictate every pallet has to be weighed in order to be verified. Not at Universal. Because of our close working relationship with the U.S. Postal Service, an entire truckload of mail can be verified based upon the volume represented by a singlepallet! That’s the competitive advantage our Alternate Mailing System Agreement brings you. The AMS Agreement is the mailing service industry equivalent to an ISO-9000 certification.

Intelligent Mail® Barcode
UMS has invested in technology, which puts Intelligent Mail barcodes,( a product of the United States Postal Service ), on every mail piece, tray or pallet. This enables in-house tracking throughout the production process. Once it leaves our site, mail is scanned to confirm its acceptance by the Postal Service. Subsequent real-time scanning provides an electronic trail throughout the processing cycle until it reaches end delivery. UMS can trace where the mail is and predict when it is expected to be delivered. And with our unique web-based PlanetTrack™ system, customers can now logon and see detailed mail tracking.
